Thomas Tuchel has confirmed he will definitely leave Bayern Munich this summer after further talks with the club failed to lead to an agreement.

It was revealed earlier this year Tuchel would step down from his post at the end of the season, but public failures in the pursuits of a number of potential replacements left Bayern keen to reconcile with their current manager.

However, Tuchel has now confirmed he will depart this summer after failing to strike a deal with those in charge at Bayern.

"This is my last press conference on Sabener Strasse," he told the media. "The agreement from February remains. There were further discussions last week, as you know. We have not found an agreement for further cooperation; the agreement from February remains.

"It was [tough] in February and now again - the longer a season lasts and you have experiences in the Champions League that bond you together. Above all, the feedback after Real Madrid last week was the basis for thinking about a 180-degree turnaround. But we haven't found an agreement and I won't go into individual motivations. That stays behind closed doors.

"I'm a little sad because I don't like leaving teams and also the many employees that belong to them."

Reflecting on his time with Bayern, Tuchel added: "The job requires full energy but also gives me an incredible amount of energy. It's a privilege and for me a good workout is always the foundation for an excellent day. You can make me happy with less. That was never the problem.

"If you do a season analysis in one sentence, you can of course say that a season without the title with Bayern is not satisfactory. I won't argue with that. But if you read the whole book, not just the title page, you're left with a disappointing cup exit, which was absolutely inadequate.

"We are second in the Bundesliga and got a number of points that would have been enough for a championship nine times over, I think. In a situation with many injuries and where Bayer Leverkusen simply refused to lose, this is not a score to be ashamed of and sheds a different light on it.

"The Champions League season was a perfect one until the 87th minute in Madrid. Losing in the end in Madrid can just happen. There's nothing to be ashamed of. We are self-critical and will never shirk responsibility, but we have the right to walk out of here with our heads held high. There's no reason to go out the back door."

Bayern have already seen Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick turn down the chance to take over, while they were recently priced out of a move for Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner.
