‘The Problem Could Be’ – Liverpool’s Demands Could Scupper Reds’ Star’s Exit | OneFootball

Liverpool‘s demands could be a problem slowing down the exit of a Reds star to an interested club this summer, amid talks being under way.

While the focus has been majorly on incomings at Anfield in the shape of Jeremie Frimpong, expected to be followed by Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez, the club are also sanctioning exits.

Caoimhin Kelleher has been sold to Brentford, while speculation swirls over the likes of Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa, fringe attackers under Arne Slot.

Nunez is now the subject of serious interest from Italian champions Napoli, who have been claimed to be ahead in the race for the Uruguayan’s signature.

The Serie A side are confident that they can afford Nunez’s salary demands, however the story may be different when it comes to the fee with Liverpool.

According to Italian daily Il Mattino (via Area Napoli), ‘the problem could be the demands of the Reds’. How much Liverpool are asking Napoli to pay for the striker is unclear.

It had been suggested that Liverpool could look to take Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as part of a deal for Nunez to move to Italy.

That though has been ruled out by Napoli, who are insisting that if Liverpool want Osimhen, ‘they will have to put on the table the €75m requested’.

Osimhen spent last season on loan in Turkey at Galatasaray, where he struck the goal on a regular basis and helped the Cimbom to retain the Turkish Super Lig title.

If Liverpool do want to take him to Anfield, they will have to meet Napoli’s €75m price tag and the deal will be separate from that of Nunez.

Liverpool splashed the cash to sign Nunez from Portuguese giants Benfica, but he has consistently failed to nail down a spot in the side.

The striker has been criticised for missing a host of big chances and found himself down the pecking order in the recent season under Slot.
