Tchouameni, Carreras react after Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Mallorca – ‘We’re pleased’ | OneFootball

Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabeu last night was spearheaded by goals from Vinicius Jr. and Arda Guler and helped Los Blancos keep up their strong run under Xabi Alonso.

The men in white could not keep a clean sheet and were in fact forced to pull off a comeback win after the visitors took an early lead.

Good composure, dominance in possession and attacking incentive, however, helped them coast past a difficult opposition and take three points.

Tchouameni’s two cents

Speaking to the media after Real Madrid’s win on the night, star midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni was asked to comment on what the three points meant to the team just before the international break.

“We had three matches before the break and we had to win all three. We did it and we’re pleased. Now we’re going to play with our national teams and come back for more victories.”

Xabi Alonso gave the team an elaborate talk during the water break which changed the team’s intensity on the field, and the player revealed it was precisely that which the coach dealt with at the time.

“We had to up the intensity. We started the match a little sluggish, but in the end we raised our game in every aspect: technique, physicality and intensity.”

“We scored two goals and it’s a very important home win. We have to keep this up,” he added.

The player also commented on the goals from Arda Guler and Vinicius Jr which were helped Los Blancos pull off the comeback on the night, saying,

“We have pushed ourselves to the limit. We have the quality to score goals, we proved that today. We have to improve and do more in every training session and every match.”

Finally, he was asked his assessment of where the team stands after three games under Xabi Alonso in La Liga.

“Very good. We wanted to win them and we have nine points. We have to keep it up. Now we’re going to change the rhythm a little bit.”

“We have international fixtures and then we’ll return home to play in the League and the Champions League,” he added.

Star defender speaks

Alvaro Carreras once again proved his value against Mallorca, especially with a goal-line clearance that saw him give it his all to keep the ball out of the back of the net.

“The important thing is the team’s victory. We had the focus on winning the first three games and we succeeded. We are very happy,” he said, giving his verdict on the game.

Carreras then commented on how Los Blancos scored twice in the span of one minute on the night to complete the comeback.

“The dream nights are already beginning to be lived here, but the important thing was the three points.”

On his valiant goal-line clearance, Carreras said,

“I promised from the day I signed here, that he was going to leave me everything. It’s a grain that I can contribute to the team. That’s what I’m here.”

The left back was then asked about his adaptation to the team and Xabi Alonso’s plans and he praised the dressing room for making it easy for him.

“It’s thanks to the colleagues. From the first day they gave me an incredible rest, I’m at home. I have no complaints. We continue working to make it a good year.”

Finally, the player gave his verdict on the season going forward and how the balance in the dressing room would be key.

“It’s a different year for everyone. The preseason was short and we have to agree on many new players who arrived here. I think we’re doing great and it’s going to be a beautiful year.”
