Sheffield United are still in the process of bulking out their squad amidst a major rebuild. Thus far they have brought in: free agents Jamie Shackleton, Sam McCallum and Callum O’Hare, along with the purchase of Kieffer Moore. United agreed on a contract extension for Adam Davies earlier this month, but they are still working on a deal for Oli McBurnie.

This counteracts the departures of: Jordan Amissah, George Baldock, Chris Basham, John Egan, Oliver Norwood, Ben Osborn, Max Lowe, Wes Foderingham. In addition, Cameron Archer was sold back to Aston Villa following the initial transfer agreement last summer, and Daniel Jebbison joined Bournemouth earlier this month with the Blades and the Cherries agreeing on a compensation package for the young striker.

Sheffield United linked with free agent striker

Chris Wilder and his recruitment team have already delved into the free agents market three times so far, and recent reports are suggesting they are monitoring current free agent Tyrese Campbell. The 24-year-old former Stoke City striker is being monitored by the Blades but they have Cardiff City, Rangers, Preston North End, QPR and West Bromwich Albion to contend with, per Mail Sport.

The pacey forward has scored 31 goals and served up 16 assists in 142 Championship appearances. According to Transfermarkt, Campbell has missed 68 games due to injury in the last four seasons.

Blades given Jesurun Rak-Sakyi lifeline

Sheffield United’s hopes of pursuing a loan move for talented Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi took a blow last week when Southampton emerged as contenders for his signature. The Saints attempted to buy the 21-year-old, however Palace rejected their offers as they would prefer to send him on loan to a top Championship club.

According to the report by Mail Sport, the south London team have noted the progress made by Omari Hutchinson who went on loan from Chelsea to Ipswich last season and they recognise Rak-Sakyi is capable of having a similar impact on the division this season.

Leeds United, Sheffield United and Sunderland are among several clubs to have expressed interest in the former England U20 international.

Rak-Sakyi’s only loan spell came in the 2022/23 campaign where he set League One alight for Charlton Athletic having notched 15 goals and eight assists. His electric performances earned him the supporters Player of The Year award.

Unfortunately his career momentum was hindered last season when he suffered a hamstring injury.

The Dutchman signed a four-year deal with the Blades 12 months ago after the club signed the 27-year-old for approximately £15 million from Coventry City. In his debut Premier League campaign Hamer scored four goals and provided six assists in what was a disastrous time for Sheffield United.
