Antonio Conte’s Napoli sit atop the Serie A table after the conclusion of Sunday’s matches in the fourth round of league fixtures, but Udinese can still overtake them into first place if they win away against Parma on Monday night.

Where things stand in Serie A after Sunday’s matches

It was an action-packed weekend of Italian football after the recent international break, including 4-0 wins for Milan and the aforementioned Napoli, on top of an entertaining 3-2 Atalanta victory against Fiorentina earlier on Sunday.

Napoli have now won three league matches on the trot, ahead of a highly-anticipated clash against Juventus in Turin next Sunday.

Reigning Serie A champions and favourites for the 2024-25 title, Inter, are currently in second place with eight points from their first four matches following Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Monza.

The Nerazzurri are level on points with both Turin clubs, Juventus and Torino, who also have an average of two points per game thus far. Juventus and Torino were both held to 0-0 draws this weekend, against Empoli and Lecce respectively.

Fifth and sixth place in the Serie A table currently belong to Udinese and Hellas Verona, who can both still move further up the table depending on their results against Parma and Lazio on Monday.

Atalanta picked up their second win of the season in what was their first home match of the season in the newly-refurbished Gewiss Stadium. A thrilling first 45 saw five goals go in between them and Fiorentina, with La Dea netting a third through Ademola Lookman in first-half injury time.

Milan are now off the mark for the 2024-25 season, following an assertive 4-0 victory at home against Venezia. Four goals in 29 minutes courtesy of Theo Hernandez, Youssouf Fofana, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham provided Paulo Fonseca with his first win this season.

Roma, meanwhile, have some catching up to do, as they currently sit in 16th place with three points after recording three draws in four matches.
