Speaking in an exclusive interview with AS, Omar Mugharbel, the CEO of the Saudi Pro League, has fueled speculations about a potential move for Real Madrid megastar Vinicius Jr.
It is no secret that the Saudi Arabian League has set its sight on the Brazilian attacker as the next marquee addition to the project.
There was an enormous offer tabled for Vinicius last summer – one which he turned down, but more discussions have taken place between his entourage and the Middle Eastern nation since about a future transfer.
Amidst all this, Mugharbel, the CEO of the Pro League, has stated that clubs there have what it takes to attract players like Vinicius.
“We have different clubs at different levels. With different levels of maturity. It happens in every league in the world. There are teams that can attract those kind of players and others that still need to develop much more,” he said.
“And if I evaluate by what we have today, our clubs have what it takes to attract, develop and nurture talent like that. So let’s wait and see what happens with that (Vinicius),” Mugharbel added.

On what would it mean for the league to have a superstar like Vinicius playing in the competition, the CEO remarked:
“Something similar to the other stars we have. There is the sporting aspect, to improve the quality of the teams, the structures and the dynamics. And also the commercial visibility. Key players have a global visibility and a great commercial value.
“Obviously it makes the league grow. It is very important on the sporting side, but also in terms of visibility and commercially.”
Vinicius still has a contract with Real Madrid until 2027 and the Merengues intend to open talks over a renewal soon amid growing overtures from Saudi Arabia.
