It was a sour end to the Spanish Supercup semi-final between Real Madrid and RCD Mallorca, and if fans of Los Bermellones may not have been in the best of moods, their frustration was prolonged at the final whistle.
As they exited the stadium, the family members of the Mallorca team, who were not separated from the fans nor afforded security to their bus, were faced with a group of local Real Madrid fans. Cristina Palavra, wife of Mallorca veteran Dani Rodriguez, confirmed that she was OK to Esport IB3, but explained that she, Dominik Greif’s wife and others were harassed on their exit from the stadium, despite the presence of their young children.

Palavra explained that they photos were being taken of them up close of them too. Cadena Cope also spoke to a Mallorca fan, Pere, who explained that between their seats and the bus there was 15-20 minutes journey, with people getting in their face about the result and shouting at them.
However Pere confirmed that the female members of their cohort had suffered harassment too – ‘they were touched, they had people taking photos without their consent… It’s very serious’.
The hosting of the Spanish Supercup in Saudi Arabia has been praised by Carlo Ancelotti, who said that the teams get to feel the warmth of the fans in a different country, but the teams that are not Barcelona and Real Madrid have been much less keen on the host country. Inaki Williams complained that it was a partisan environment in favour of Barcelona on Wednesday night, and these latest events will have done little to enamour Mallorca fans with the experience.
