Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim and his technical staff have reportedly lost patience with Rasmus Hojlund.
The Red Devils spent circa £72 million to sign the young striker from Atalanta in the summer of 2023. But while the Dane showed some promising signs last term, he’s been largely disappointing this campaign. While he managed to find some joy in the Europa League group stage, he’s been misfiring in the Premier League, only scoring two goals since the start of the season.
This stat coupled with the club’s 15th position in the table paints a crystal-clear picture: United are in dire need of a new striker, and the club is reportedly pursuing several profiles, already, including the likes of Jonathan David, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres.
On Monday, Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst revealed that the Man Utd coaches have lost it with Hojlund, and are now considering dropping him in favour of 17-year-old Chido Odi who replaced him in the 2-2 draw against Everton.

Nevertheless, former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart believes the Denmark international isn’t to blame for the Red Devils’ catastrophic form. The retired star had already explained early in the campaign how the striker has been deprived of proper service all season, as he’s being asked to do it all on his own in attack.
“He’s on his own, all the time. They’re asking a recently-turned 22 guy who’s out of form, it looks like they’re just lumping the ball up to him and saying ‘can you score us a goal’. As you say, confidence is low, he’s not offering a lot.” noted Hart (via The Mirror).
Perhaps the former England international has a point, as Man Utd do have a noticeable problem in terms of creating chances. That being said, the club must pursue a more proven striker next summer by all means.
