Manchester United mounted a late comeback in their game against Everton on Saturday, escaping Goodison Park with a point when it looked like another defeat was on the cards.

Ruben Amorim has Bruno Fernandes to thank for galvanising the team with a stunning 72nd minute free-kick which reduced the deficit by one before Manuel Ugarte larruped in a stunning equaliser from the edge of the box.

While the Portuguese tactician will be relieved to have avoided yet another Premier League defeat, the form of his striker will continue to give him sleepless nights.

Rasmus Hojlund’s goalless drought has now extended to 16 games in all competitions with the Dane struggling to do even the basics properly.

Rasmus has looked lost up front

He seems more intent on trying to win physical duels with centre-backs instead of trying to use his speed and guile to get past his man, which has infuriated fans and pundits alike.

And Amorim is far from pleased with the head coach open to the “hopeless” No 9’s departure in the summer but INEOS are aware that the Denmark international’s form could mean a lack of permanent offers in the summer.

The co-owners have already realised that they will have to incur a huge loss on their initial investment but were still hoping for a permanent solution instead of loaning him out given the club’s PSR woes.

“Manchester United are concerned that Rasmus Hojlund’s lack of form will result in them struggling to sanction a permanent departure from Old Trafford when head coach Ruben Amorim will be aiming to make significant changes to his squad in the summer transfer window, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Rasmus could end up staying at Old Trafford

“Manchester United are fearing that they will struggle to find a buyer for Hojlund in the summer, according to GMS sources, and they may be forced to keep him as a squad player or listen to loan offers despite entertaining the possibility of cashing in and signing an upgrade as preparations are made for the 2025/26 campaign.”

So far, the 22-year-old has been linked with a move to West Ham United and Juventus with Leeds United also among his suitors but a move to United’s arch-rivals is unlikely to pan out.

With the Red Devils still alive in the FA Cup and Europa League, Amorim will be hoping that Hojlund finds some kind of form between now and the end of the season.

Despite his struggles in front of goal, the Portuguese tactician has had no choice but to keep playing him due to a lack of options at his disposal given Marcus Rashford and Antony left the club in January.

He has been reluctant to throw Chido Obi into the deep end owing to his young age but the academy wonderkid already has two caps under his belt.

The head coach has explained that Joshua Zirkzee not a natural No 9 while Amad is out for the season. Alejandro Garnacho has also started misfiring at the worst possible time.
