Roma approach Bailey with Aston Villa ready to sell | OneFootball

Roma have made an approach for Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey, according to The Athletic, who is also of interest to Besiktas and the Saudi Pro League.

It is no secret that the Giallorossi are seeking a winger with his characteristics for new coach Gian Piero Gasperini, who traditionally plays with a 3-4-3 formation.

The report from England suggests these are initial discussions and no formal offer has yet been made, but it could be in the works soon.

Bailey fits profile for Roma attack

The Jamaica international just turned 28 and plays primarily on the right flank, but can also work on the left.

He only recently signed a new contract with Aston Villa until June 2027 and there is an option to extend for a further year.

Bailey had been a big €32m investment from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021, but fell down the pecking order at Aston Villa last season.

He only started 14 of his total 24 Premier League appearances, but in total since 2021 has amassed 22 goals and 24 assists in 144 competitive games.

Roma face competition from Besiktas and clubs in the Saudi Pro League for Bailey’s signature.
