Rio Ferdinand loves the camera. Make no mistake about that as we watch him get all friendly with Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of tonight’s mouth-watering Champions League semi-final tie.

The former Manchester United defender is working for the game as part of TNT Football’s coverage of the Champions League. He’s previously done interviews as part of his role for the broadcaster when the German was in charge of Paris Saint-Germain.

That’s enough to tell you they have a bit of history. They know each other and there’s clear mutual respect between the pair.

That said, I can’t help but cringe when as Ferdinand desperately tries to take centre stage. He’s fully aware that Tuchel is currently being linked with the United job, even though Erik ten Hag hasn’t been sacked. What you will see below is a clear mark of disrespect and unprofessionalism. Do your bloody job!

‘Yeah, film me walking, but you know, trying to avoid walking over the badge?’ ‘Why on earth would I do that, Rio?’ ‘Out of respect init.’

After all, Ferdinand is a YouTuber with six Premier League winners medals. He deserves some respect but you don’t see other former United players so desperate in the media. I feel like vomiting whenever I see it.

Think about it as a view for a moment. We are sitting home waiting on insight and analysis from pundits and those involved in tonight’s game. Let’s just take a moment for Ferdinand to whisper sweet nothings into Tuchel’s ear. Is that what we are paying for with our subscription?

Tuchel’s job at Bayern Munich is coming to an end and they’ve yet to find a replacement after Ralf Rangnick turned down advances to remain Austria boss for Euro 2024. The former Chelsea boss has been linked with the United job in the past and I reckon he would jump at the opportunity to replace Ten Hag, which is not me saying I want that to happen.

Joined by TNT Sports presenter Laura Woods, Ferdinand dived into why he thinks the world is Tuchel’s oyster again.

Ferdinand: “He can say what he wants, he can do what he wants.”

Tuchel tops Ten Hag replacement list

Thomas Tuchel has become 2/1 favourite from 6/1 with some leading bookmakers to be the next United manager after Monday night’s crushing 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace piled extra pressure on Erik ten Hag.

Speculation over Ten Hag’s Old Trafford future notced up another level after a 13th league defeat of the season, our most in a campaign since the 1989/90 season when Sir Alex Ferguson was manager.

Tuchel’s reign as Bayern boss is set to come to an end after the Bundesliga giants made it clear earlier this season that they were ready to part ways with the German coach.
