Manchester United will pocket nearly an extra £3.5m from Borussia Dortmund as part of their loan agreement for Jadon Sancho after they qualified for the Champions League final, multiple reports have revealed.

Sancho left United on loan during the January transfer window after refusing to apologise to manager Erik ten Hag following a public falling out.

Though his form has been patchy back at Dortmund, the winger has played a starring role in their Champions League run.

BVB eliminated PSV Eindhoven in the last 16 before toppling Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals, setting up a semi-final with Paris Saint-Germain. Despite heading into the tie as underdogs, Dortmund beat PSG 2-0 on aggregate to advance to their first Champions League final since 2013, with Sancho particularly impressing during their 1-0 win in the first leg at Signal Iduna Park.

Multiple sources, including the Evening Standard, report that United stand to make close to £3.5m from Dortmund as reaching the final triggered a clause in their loan agreement.

Dortmund are believed to have paid £3m up front for Sancho, though they are not contributing to a significant proportion of his wages, which are just shy of £300,000-a-week.

Sancho's loan deal does not include an option to buy and Dortmund would have to negotiate a fresh deal with United if they are to keep him beyond this season. 90min previously reported Sancho's United career could be resurrected if Ten Hag is sacked, while Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl revealed on Tuesday the club are considering making the move permanent.

However, despite being linked with BVB's Donyell Malen, 90min understands United are unlikely to consider a swap deal for Sancho.

Since returning to Dortmund, Sancho has contributed three goals and two assists in 18 games, while there have been outside calls for a first England call-up since 2021.
