Gonzalo Garcia’s performances in the FIFA Club World Cup have been the highlight of the summer so far at Real Madrid.

With Kylian Mbappe struggling with illness, Garcia has stepped up to the plate to become the desired number nine for coach Xabi Alonso in this tournament.

The youngster hasn’t disappointed either, notably scoring a goal in the first game against Al Hilal. In fact, he has been involved in a goal in each of the three group stage matches so far.

Gonzalo Garcia’s performances have significantly improved his standing within the team, with many expecting him to make a big breakthrough next season. And this may have serious ramifications for others.

Endrick nervous after Garcia breakthrough

According to MARCA, Gonzalo’s unexpected rise has made fellow young striker Endrick nervous.

While the Brazilian has been recovering from an injury, Gonzalo has seized the opportunity, perfectly understanding what Xabi Alonso needed: a striker who provides defensive balance, pressures defenders, and offers a constant threat in attack.

Alonso has been full of praise for the youth product, highlighting his “sense of smell” for goal and even comparing his intelligent movements to those of club legend Raul Gonzalez.

This has unsettled Endrick, who is now accelerating his recovery and plans to travel to the United States to join the squad for the knockout stages.

While he is unlikely to play, his desire to be close to the team and coaching staff is seen as a direct response to the pressure applied by Gonzalo’s success.

It must be noted that Endrick has already been linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu this summer, with both AC Milan and Juventus reportedly keen on his services.
