Real Madrid are set to kickstart their 2025/26 campaign tonight as they take on CA Osasuna at Santiago Bernabeu.
While Real Madrid look more or less done as far as their squad building is concerned, there are certain areas the club must reinforce in the near future if they are to fight for silverware.
One of the areas that does require reinforcement is the midfield unit, which has been weakened significantly following the departure of Luka Modric and the retirement of Toni Kroos.
While the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga are incredibly talented, the two Frenchmen have struggled with numerous injury problems in recent years.
This is one of the reasons why coach Xabi Alonso is already looking at the market for potential reinforcements, especially for the summer of 2026.
According to Defensa Central, one of the players Real Madrid are targeting in 2026 is Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson.

Real Madrid’s scouting leader Juni Calafat has already been informed of Larsson’s potential, especially after his impressive breakthrough at Eintracht.
The plan for Real Madrid is to follow him closely throughout the course of the campaign and see if the youngster can continue his rapid development in the Bundesliga.
Known for his ability to control the ball under pressure and spread the play, Larsson is stylistically quite similar to Toni Kroos.
Although a central midfielder by trade, the Swedish international can also operate as a defensive midfielder, thus making him an ideal target for Los Blancos.
Acquiring the Swede’s services won’t be easy, though, with Transfermarkt already valuing him at around €40 million. Given Eintracht’s negotiation tactics, it won’t be surprising to see the youngster costing a fortune.
