The atmosphere is extremely tense between Real Madrid and their star winger, Vinicius Jr. The Brazilian's contract extension is now at a complete standstill.

Under contract until June 2027 with a salary close to €17 million net per season, negotiations to extend Vinicius Jr's deal are totally stalled according to ESPN Brazil. Yet, last spring, an agreement seemed within reach: Vinicius' entourage was demanding a new contract with a €20 million base salary, plus bonuses that could push the total to €30 million per year. Such a figure would have made the Brazilian one of the highest paid players in the club's history.

However, Florentino Pérez and his board have only agreed to the first part of the request — €20 million without bonuses — which the player’s camp considers insufficient to sign on for three more seasons. In fact, Vinicius’ agents, Fred Pena and Thássilo Soares, believe Madrid’s offer does not reflect their client’s central role or his global superstar status. They prefer to wait, assess the season, and especially observe how new Merengue coach Xabi Alonso will use Vini. Tensions are running high: according to ESPN, Alonso even considered benching the Brazilian for the Club World Cup semi-final against PSG.
