Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain parted ways this summer as they began new chapters. However, the two sides remain connected due to a financial dispute, and the latest news is that they will meet with a legal committee to resolve the matter.

Le Monde reported last month that the Frenchman is still awaiting the €55 million owed under his contract with PSG.

According to the French outlet, Mbappé has escalated the matter to the French Professional Football League (LFP) legal committee and has involved UEFA through the French Football Federation (FFF).

The report also mentioned that Mbappé initially raised the issue with the LFP’s legal committee on August 8, referencing article 259 of France’s professional football charter. This article stipulates that “wages must be paid by clubs to players under contract by the last day of each month at the latest, under the conditions of ordinary law.”

L’Equipe (h/t Madrid Universal) reported the latest update on this situation, which revealed that the Real Madrid star is scheduled to meet with the legal committee on September 11. This upcoming hearing will be pivotal in deciding whether Mbappe will receive the €55 million he claims he’s owed.

In a recent interview with Europe 1, Cyril Hanouna, a close associate of PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, discussed the ongoing dispute between the French club and its all-time leading goal scorer.

“Nasser Al-Khelaifi never expected, believe me, that Kylian Mbappé would pull such a fast one on him,” Hanouna said. “He thought there was an unspoken agreement between him and Mbappé—that no matter what happened, Mbappé would repay PSG by agreeing to a deal and allowing them to get some money from the transfer.”
