With the new season just around the corner, renewal talks between Vinicius Jr. and Real Madrid have taken centre stage.

Earlier in the summer, it was reported that Vinicius has a verbal agreement with Los Blancos over a new deal that would secure his long-term future at the Bernabeu.

However, a recent report from Cadena SER has highlighted certain disagreements between Real Madrid and Vinicius that may even jeopardise the deal.

Real Madrid reject Vinicius’ key demand

As per the report, Vinicius’ key demand was to be equated with Kylian Mbappe in terms of salary, something that Real Madrid found quite amusing.

The club were not expecting Vinicius to make such a demand, especially after an underwhelming campaign that saw him struggle with momentum.

Mbappe, in contrast, was the club’s standout player last season and even won the Pichichi trophy in his first season in La Liga.

Real Madrid, therefore. are not willing to offer Vinicius the same salary as Mbappe but believes there is time to re-arrange matters since his contract doesn’t expire until 2026.

But Real Madrid’s refusal has caused a stalemate in negotiations, even though an agreement was almost in place.

It appears Vinicius is not happy with being the second highest player in the squad, even though the club have offered him a chance to improve his performances and re-negotiate the terms of the deal.

If no agreement is reached between the two clubs this summer, Real Madrid could be open to sanctioning the sale of the Brazilian international, especially with Saudi Arabia proposing an offer worth €200 million.
