Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo has this week spoken out on current Blancos star Vinícius Jr’s recent Ballon d’Or snub.
Wide-man Vinícius, of course, saw his ‘Golden Ball’ hopes shattered late last year.
Considered the widespread favourite to scoop the award, the Brazilian international was ultimately pipped to top spot in voting by Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
As much left a sour taste in the mouths of those of a Real Madrid persuasion, adamant that their side’s star man was the player most deserving of being named world football’s best.
And as alluded to above, on Tuesday, such suggestions have been backed by one of the club’s greatest-ever players.
Drawn on Vinícius’ Ballon d’Or snub, in quotes sourced by journalist Fabrizio Romano, five-time Golden Ball winner Cristiano Ronaldo explained:
“Vini Jr deserved to win the Ballon d’Or but I’m not surprised… not only because I didn’t win it or not, but because it lacks credibility. He won the Champions League and scored goals”.
