Portuguese star Rafael Leão has once again proven just how important he is to Milan after bagging their opening goal against Udinese.
The 25-year-old former Lille standout has come under fire in recent seasons after hitting a patch of inconsistency, which saw some consider his days at the club numbered.
But Leão's brilliance has been more present under compatriot and current Milan manager Sérgio Conceição, with performance levels beginning to improve bit by bit.
His goal against Udine was decisive as well, but more importantly, it showed just how credible his recent years with Milan have been.
Rafael Leão has 55 G/A since start of 2022/23 Serie A season. Only Lautaro Martínez (68) has more.–
With that 42nd-minute goal, Leão registered his 55th direct goal contribution since the 2022/23 campaign, with only Inter's Lautaro Martínez capable of boasting more (68).
If Milan are to claw their way up the table before the end of the season, the best version of a very gifted player will serve them well.
