Paris Saint-Germain’s loss to Borussia Dortmund last night could have serious implications for the team’s squad planning for the summer ahead.

With Kylian Mbappe on the verge of joining Real Madrid on a free transfer, PSG are likely to ramp up their efforts to sign a new winger.

PSG eye move for Barcelona target

According to Corriere Dello Sport (h/t SPORT), one of the players PSG are targeting in their bid to bring in a new attacker this summer is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

This could serve as a massive blow for Barcelona, who have also been linked with a move for the Napoli superstar in recent weeks.

It appears Barcelona are sensing a market opportunity in regard to Kvaratskhelia’s situation in Naples. His contract at Napoli expires in 2027, but the player is reportedly looking for higher compensation, having almost single-handedly led Napoli to a league title last season.

Although Kvaratskhelia has not been able to meet last season’s performances this campaign, he still demands the salary of a top player.

A realistic target for Barcelona?

PSG’s entry in Kvaratskhelia pursuit is not the only problem for Barcelona. The club are expected to face multiple economic hurdles in their bid to sign the Georgian star.

That is because Napoli are not expected to settle for anything less than the €100 million for Kvaratskhelia. Not to mention, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is known to be a tough negotiator and could make life even more difficult for Barça.

As such, the Catalans are likely to focus on other alternatives in the market. The club have been linked with moves for Dani Olmo and Bernardo Silva in the recent past.

If Barcelona fail to sign any of these aforementioned stars, the club may look at the option of extending the contract of Joao Felix, who faces an uncertain summer ahead.
