The well-known journalist Carlo Pellegatti has urged AC Milan to bring back Giacomo Bonaventura to the squad. The veteran midfielder is available on a free transfer this summer and could perhaps be the perfect addition.

Bonaventura spent six years at Milan and lived through the ‘Banter Era’, being one of the few positives for the Rossoneri in a very tough time. In 184 appearances for the club, he bagged 35 goals as well as 30 assists, being a fan favourite from the first day.

On his YouTube channel, Carlo Pellegatti spoke about the free transfer opportunities that will be available from tomorrow (July 1) and urged Milan to sign Bonaventura. His contract with Fiorentina will not be renewed and knowing what it’s like to play for the Rossoneri, he could be a good addition.

“I’m launching this idea of mine which is perhaps a little romantic and old. To complete the squad, I personally have an idea about an Italian player who is currently free and a Milan fan, I’m talking about Bonaventura, I would take him home to complete the squad. He’s a quality player and a Milanista and with enthusiasm, perhaps he would also ask for an affordable salary,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if the management will hear Pellegatti, but it seems like a very unlikely move indeed. Milan have made it clear that they want to focus more on young players and while Bonaventura probably wouldn’t ask for a high salary, it has to feel right.
