Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has reached an agreement with Besiktas to mutually terminate his contract.
The former Southampton, Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder is keen to return to English football after two seasons in Turkey. An agreement has been reached to let him leave Istanbul as a free agent, opening up the opportunity of a Premier League return.
Oxlade-Chamberlain signed for Besiktas from Liverpool on a free transfer in 2023. He helped the club to Turkish Cup success in 2023/24, but started just 25 league games across his two seasons in the Süper Lig.
During his six seasons at Liverpool, the midfielder won the Premier League and Champions League among his honours. He also lifted three FA Cups with Arsenal, during an eight-year spell in North London.
Injuries have impacted the latter period of the 31-year-old’s career, who has won 35 caps for England, scoring seven times.
Leeds United have been linked with a potential move for the midfielder as the promoted outfit look to add Premier League experience to their squad.
