Optimism for 56 fades as Rangers drop 6 behind | OneFootball

Let’s face it, Rangers and Philippe Clement choked hard this season – had 56 in our hands, then just crumbled, a combination of bad calls from the manager and feeble performances from the players.

Celtic’s win v Hearts put them 6 clear, and for the first time, their boss looked cocky and suggested next weekend will be ‘fun’.

They’re confident, and they’ve just grabbed a speck of form at the worst time for Rangers as the Ibrox side’s morale crumbles.

With Killie in Govan on Sunday, it’s arguably the most must-win match yet – Celtic have put pressure now on Rangers, real pressure, and anything less than a win v Derek McInnes’ thrifty side and 56 is done.

Rangers are 1% likely to win at Parkhead, and Celtic have all the momentum.

We know the cry was No Surrender, and we know We Welcome The Chase, but it looks very, very bleak now for Rangers that the one side we reckoned maybe could get something from Celtic, Hearts, were completely blown away and the gap extended to 6. Killie could do something of course as well…

It’s back to 3 tomorrow should Rangers get the win v Killie, but we’re not confident.

The manager will pick another dumbass XI, we’ll look a mess for 45 minutes, and then we’ll stagger into a second 45 mild revival, with who knows what the outcome being.

We’re just at the point now that we have no faith in Clement to get anything right, and we have no faith in the players he picks to deliver for this club.

That said a win v Killie won’t save everything for us, but we will at least still be in the race.

But the manner will matter – if it’s another horrible display barely scraping over the line with the win, the optimism for next weekend will dwindle terribly.

Not that there’s currently much, in fairness.

But we do want an ember of hope.

If Clement is to prove himself the right manager, he’ll take this shambles of a squad and win v Killie and win at Parkhead.

That’s a tall order but it’s what we need. Even then it might not be enough.

We can only watch and hope now.
