“AS Roma are delighted to announce the signing of Evan Ferguson from Brighton & Hove Albion. Ferguson will join Roma on loan with an option to buy,” the Giallorossi said in a statement on Wednesday.”
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported last week that Roma’s option to buy is set at €40m.
“Born in Bettystown on 19 October 2004, Ferguson is the first ever Irish player to join Roma. Starting his career at Bohemian FC, he joined Brighton in 2021 to play in the Premier League and in January 2025 went on loan to West Ham,” the Giallorossi continued.
“He made his debut for the Ireland national team in November 2022 and to date has scored four goals in his 18 appearances. He’s racked up 103 appearances and 21 goals for club and country.
“Ferguson has chosen the number 11 shirt.
“Welcome to Roma, Evan!”

The Irish striker will likely compete with Artem Dovbyk for a starting spot in the Roma attack in the 2025-26 campaign.
Ferguson scored 13 goals in 68 Premier League matches and five goals in 22 international appearances with the Ireland national team.
The 20-year-old is Roma’s second summer signing this summer after Neil El Aynaoui from Lens.
The Giallorossi will now focus on strengthening their defensive department with ongoing talks for Flamengo right wing-back Wesley and Hellas Verona centre-back Daniele Ghilardi.
Roma will make their 2025-26 Serie A debut at home against Bologna on August 23.
