As expected, Roma have formally announced that Florent Ghisolfi will be their new Techincal Director, moving on from OGC Nice.

The role had been empty since February, when Tiago Pinto walked away four months before the end of his contract.

Nice directors had also confirmed that he had requested to leave this summer and was granted his freedom, so Roma will not have to pay any release clause.

“AS Roma is pleased to announce that Florent Ghisolfi will become the club’s new Technical Director,” read the statement.

“After finishing his professional football career, Ghisolfi began coaching, working for numerous French clubs to establish himself as a manager.

“In 2019, he was appointed Sporting Director at Lens, laying the groundwork for the club’s eventual Champions League qualification.

“In 2022, he joined Nice as Sporting Director, where he made a significant contribution to improving the first team squad and their return to European football.

“The club warmly welcomes Florent to Rome and wishes him all the best in his new position.”

Roma parameters limit Ghisolfi

Ghisolfi will be put in charge of Roma’s transfer strategy for the summer with coach Daniele De Rossi already warning he wants to revamp the squad.

It has been a tough role for many years due to the Financial Fair Play parameters the club has to act within, which means many of their players are on loan or free agents.

As the name would suggest, 39-year-old Ghisolfi is French, but has some Italian heritage too and therefore also has an Italian passport.
