INEOS have shown another 200 Manchester United empolyees the door in another merciless round of redundancies.

Since acquiring a minority stake at the club and taking charge of the day-to-day operations, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his group have embarked on a desperate mission to balance the books after realising that the club has lost over £300 million over the last three campaigns.

Therefore, the directors have been gradually implementing a series of drastic cut-spending measures. After firing 250 employees in recent months, another 200 persons have sadly lost their jobs as the club announced its so-called ‘transformation plan’.

At first sight, this shiny title may have been warmly welcomed by the Red Devils’ supporters who are looking to cling onto any source of hope amidst these desperate times. But once the fans realised that blameless employees are paying the price for the sins committed by the Glazers as well as their underperforming players and managers, they certainly won’t condone this ‘plan’.

“People are losing jobs, a lot of them losing their jobs are not the ones responsible for the fact Manchester United have lost something like £300m over the last three years,” explained Sky Sports correspondent Kaveh Solhekol.

“When you look at why United are struggling financially, those people are not the ones to blame.”

What INEOS may or may not realise is that United’s almost unparalleled popularity across the globe is in fact the club’s biggest asset, especially from a financial perspective. Thanks to the millions of Reds spread all across the world, the club can ensure enormous of money will be poured into their coffers.

While an unpopular owner certainly cannot alienate the loyal fanbase, shameful decisions like these are hardly going to encourage the disgruntled fans to spend their hard-earned cash on merchandise, especially now that the squad has lost all sorts of appeal after finding themselves a few spots above the relegation zone.

And if the club ends up losing tons of cash in merchandise money, cutting free meals will hardly compensate for this painful blow.
