“My idea is very clear: to continue playing football. As I have always said, my head is there, and so are my legs,” said Nicolas Pallois to Ouest-France at the end of the season. But it won’t be with FC Nantes. L’Équipe have reported that that Pallois (37) will leave the Stade Beaujoire, putting an end to his time with Nantes after eight seasons and over 200 appearances in Jaune et Vert. Having joined the club in 2017, the Frenchman has made over 200 appearances for Les Canaris, and has featured in four great escapes to beat the drop over the last five seasons as a Nantes player. This season has been no different for Pallois, reunited with coach Antoine Kombouaré for a second time and still leading the team out with the captain’s armband.Pallois has previously played in the lower leagues with Quevilly, Valenciennes, Laval, Niort Chamois, and Bordeaux before joining FC Nantes in 2017. Since then, the Frenchman has experienced all the highs and lows at Stade de la Beaujoire: including a Coupe de France win and a Europa League campaign, and several near misses near the bottom of the Ligue 1 table.Marcus Coco (28), also out of contract, is set to follow Pallois out the door. The versatile winger and right-sided midfielder joined Nantes from Guingamp in 2019 but endured an injury-hit spell. Although he remained a consistent squad player over the years, the club have opted not to extend his stay.

While two long-serving players exit, Nantes are keen to retain left-back Nicolas Cozza (26), who joined the club on loan from Wolfsburg in January. Talks are underway with the Bundesliga side regarding a possible renewal of his loan, with the Frenchman still under contract in Germany until 2027.GFFN | George Boxall
