Inter Milan loanee Francesco Pio Esposito has named Fenerbahce veteran Edin Dzeko his childhood dream.

During his recent interview with TMW via FCInterNews, the 19-year-old shared his dream for the ongoing campaign with Spezia.

Esposito joined the Aquilotti on a season-long loan in the summer of 2023.

Despite Spezia’s underwhelming 15th-place finish in Serie B, his first season at the Alberto Picco was an utter success.

Indeed, the prodigious center-forward featured in all 38 league games for Luca D’Angelo’s side despite his young age.

Therefore, the second-tier outfit went to great lengths to secure his services for another season.

Again, their decision has been on the money.

Esposito has already doubled last season’s three-goal haul, netting seven goals in 13 Serie B appearances.

As his stock continues to rise, the Italian teenager opens up on his seasonal goals.

“I hope to win the championship with Spezia and score as many goals as possible,” he said.

“I don’t have a personal goal, the important thing is to contribute to the team’s success.

“The future will be determined by my performance, but it would be beautiful to return to Inter.”

Dzeko only spent two years at Giuseppe Meazza after leaving Roma for Inter in 2021.

Nonetheless, he remains one of the most highly-rated strikers of his generation.

“I had the chance to work with him during my time at Inter: I would say Edin Dzeko,” Esposito said.

“In Serie B, I follow Coda a lot, he has an incredible sense of goal in this category. And I really like Shpendi from Cesena.”

Meanwhile, Esposito recalls the most memorable moments from his young career.

“There are two. First of all, the first goal I scored last year, created from an assist from my brother: this is one of the most emotional moments of my career.

“You all know the special relationship I have with my family,” he started. “It was an incredible joy shared with my closest loved ones.

“Another beautiful memory is from the recent trip to Castellammare. We won, but a part of my heart was sad for my childhood team.

“These are emotions that are hard to explain with words. Seeing so many people in the stands, people I grew up with, was beautiful and special.

“It’s my city, and it will never be just another game, especially there at the Menti.”
