Napoli are seeking bank guarantees from Galatasaray as talks over the payment structure for Victor Osimhen continue.
The two teams are locked in negotiations over the transfer of Osimhen, who is open to a return to the Turkish Süper Lig champions after a loan spell last season.
Osimhen scored 39 goals in 41 games to fire Galatasaray to a domestic double, setting a new record for the most prolific single season by an overseas player in Turkish football.
Galatasaray are determined to secure Osimhen’s signing permanently and are prepared to meet the player’s €75m (£64.7m) release clause, provided it can be paid in instalments.
The Turkish side want to pay the transfer fee over a five-year period and Napoli are seeking bank guarantees before agreeing to those terms.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Napoli are demanding that the fee is paid under ‘any circumstances’, safeguarding the sale regardless of future events.
Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal failed with an approach to sign Osimhen earlier in the summer, while Premier League teams have baulked at the player’s wage demands. Manchester United and Chelsea had previously considered Osimhen.
Galatasaray’s pursuit of Osimhen continues a high-profile summer for Turkish sides. The champions have already completed the free transfer signing of Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich, while Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce have signed Jhon Duran on loan from Al-Nassr. The latter are also chasing the signing of Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain.
