There has been plenty of interest in the defender throughout the summer window.
Wolfsburg are making moves to sign wanted man Milan van Ewijk from Coventry City.
So far this summer, Frank Lampard's side have done well to hold onto a lot of their top talents. After falling short in the play-offs last season, they were always going to be under threat of losing a number of their prized assets in this window, but none of the major dominos have fallen yet, five days out from the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
If any of Lampard's best players are to leave imminently, van Ewijk feels the most likely candidate to do so. Despite playing a pivotal role in Coventry's semi-final first-leg loss to Sunderland in their last post-season run, the Dutch defender had another strong campaign in sky blue, contributing massively at both ends of the pitch.
Word of his high levels has clearly spread across the continent as teams from many top divisions have been linked with the 24-year-old so far this summer, the latest being Wolfsburg.
According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Bundesliga outfit are "pushing to sign" van Ewijk, as talks with the Dutchman are already at an advanced stage.
Other clubs to be linked with the City player include Burnley, Everton, Fulham and Wolves, plus Besiktas, Bologna, Eintracht Frankfurt from elsewhere in Europe, and Brazilian side Flamengo. It has been reported that Coventry would want £15 million for their premier right-back, as per MailSport.
Coventry already have a replacement ready to go for van Ewijk should he leave. Aston Villa youngster Kaine Kesler-Hayden moved to the CBS Arena earlier in the summer as part of a reported £3.5 million deal.
He won both of Preston North End's Young Player and Player of the Season awards following his loan spell with them last term and should give City the freedom to move on from his counterpart from the Netherlands, should they want to.
They'll make a very big profit on him. He arrived from SC Heerenveen two summers ago for the same amount that they paid for Kesley-Hayden.
If they can get the £15 million that they are supposedly looking to get for van Ewijk, not only will that give Lampard and the recruitment team a bit of extra cash to throw about in this window, but it'll give them a further boost in their Profit and Sustainability standings.
