Sevilla head coach Quique has on Friday taken firm aim at Barcelona.

As much, of course, comes fresh off the Blaugrana making official a change on the club’s bench for next season.

As confirmed by way of a statement across their website and social media platforms this afternoon, Barca have parted ways with manager Xavi.

Just weeks on from announcing the continuity of the former midfielder for the 2024/25 campaign, Joan Laporta and co. have turned their back on Xavi once and for all.

The move has since gone down predictably poorly across the continent, as fans, former players, pundits and the media alike make clear their bemusement with the ongoing chaos behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

And, as alluded to above, a short time ago, such criticism was added to by the man who will guide his side into action against Barcelona this weekend.

Speaking in his latest press conference, Sevilla boss Quique Sánchez Flores called into question the consistently poor treatment of Blaugrana legends by their own club:

“I shouldn’t say this… but how badly Barcelona treats its legends. What a bad streak. It’s probably a bad streak, but what a bad streak. What a bad streak. With Koeman, with Messi, with Xavi now, how bad. I wish clubs treated their legends well, fantastically well. That would be fantastic. That is a legacy of connection from the managers to the fans. This connects a lot. Treating legends well.”
