Reports suggest Mason Greenwood could make a dramatic switch to Asia if Manchester United decide to move him on following their internal investigation.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed that all criminal charges made against Greenwood have now been dropped. Those charges included attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

A statement from Greenwood read: “I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support. There will be no further comment at this time.”

It is important to note that just because charges have been dropped, it doesn’t make the accused innocent of those allegations. That’s why Manchester United staff are said to be split over whether they should allow Greenwood to return to the first-team.

The Sun claim Greenwood feels he may not be able to play at United – or any club in England – due to the backlash it would cause.

The report adds that a source close to the striker claims he could even be willing to play in China, while he feels United offered him little support following his arrest last year.

A source told The Sun: “At the time he was adamant he didn’t want to put on the red shirt again. He felt like the club didn’t stand by him.

“He said he would be happy to go and play in China as long as that meant he was getting paid well and was playing. His view may have softened over the last few months, but he was not happy at all.”
