Highly-rated Belgian has completed his move to Manchester United
Manchester United have announced the signing of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.
The Belgian was one of two goalkeepers linked with a move to Old Trafford ahead of the transfer deadline day amid reports of an agreement with Aston Villa for Emiliano Martinez.
Ultimately, the Red Devils have opted for Lammens as head coach Ruben Amorim has finally addressees the goalkeeping situation at the club.
Early season mistakes from Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana have cost Man Utd dearly, losing to Arsenal across the opening weekend and being knocked out of the Carabao Cup on penalties by League Two side Grimsby Town.
Lammens' arrival adds does raise question marks over the long-term futures of Onana and Bayindir. Meanwhile, with Tom Heaton signing a contract extension in the summer, it means Man United currently have four senior goalkeepers on the books.
He said: “I am extremely proud to be joining Manchester United; it is a real dream come true. The past few years have been an amazing journey; it’s now ended in an incredible destination and hopefully the beginning of something special.
“You can feel the positive atmosphere that is being created here, and I know that I can make a real impact at the club in the coming years. I cannot wait to get to know my team-mates and begin working with Ruben and the coaching staff.
“This is the perfect place to keep developing, grow together with this exciting team and achieve my career objectives.”
Lammens becomes Man United’s fourth major signing of the summer transfer window after Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.
Diego Leon has also arrived from Cerro Porteno in deal that could be worth up to £7million, while Enzo Kana-Biyik has joined Lausanne-Sport in Switzerland on loan to aid his first-team development.
