This upcoming summer transfer window will be an important one for Celtic. Not only to increase their hopes of making it further in the Champions League next season but also when it comes to widening the gap with the Rangers, which might not be as big as the points table suggests, as the Hoops have lost the last two Glasgow Derbies and conceded nine goals in their previous three meetings with the Ibrox club.
So, keep your eye out for new arrivals. At the same time, the moves of players no longer at the club might have an impact on Celtic's transfer plans as well.
Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen is one such player. And he seems to be edging closer towards an exit in the upcoming summer transfer window, having joined the German club in early 2021 from Celtic.
Liverpool are believed to be pushing to sign the Dutchman in the upcoming summer transfer window. But they are not the only Premier League giants after his signature. As reported by TBR Football, Manchester United and Manchester City have held talks with Frimpong’s camp in recent weeks.
So, why should Celtic be keeping an eye on Frimpong's situation and where he ends up? That is because they are believed to hold a significant sell-on clause for the Dutch full-back.
The exact figure is not exactly clear. But rumours have suggested a number as high as 30%, which would represent a major boost for Celtic. The release clause in his current Bayer Leverkusen deal is believed to be in the region of €40 million.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Frimpong. But it does look like he is almost certain to join a high-profile club this summer.
