Bild reports that the trail of Bayer Leverkusen to Manchester City’s James McAtee has now gone cold, and the club is looking elsewhere.
The price for the England under-21 captain is said to be around €20m. This fee has put off the likes of Stuttgart, while Leverkusen continue to show increased interest in Como’s Nico Paz, as they look for Florian Wirtz’s replacement.
Other players linked to Leverkusen recently have been Jack Grealish and Alejandro Garnacho, both are unlikely to come with Grealish completely out of the question, and Garnacho too expensive. Antony, Garnacho’s Manchester United teammate, is a more feasible option due to the fee.
Back in the winter, Leverkusen tried to bring McAtee to the club, but a move failed to materialise. The 22-year-old is said to continue to show an interest in playing in Germany as chances at his current club, Man City, are few and far between.
