Premier League champions Manchester City have reportedly ‘scouted and verified’ a Bayern Munich duo as possible future additions to Pep Guardiola’s squad.

The latest update on Manchester City’s recruitment plans follows a development concerning a player understood to be their number one target in Newcastle United and Brazil international Bruno Guimaraes.

Up until earlier this week, the 26-year-old was tempting potential suitors from across Europe through a release clause active in his existing St James’ Park agreement, believed to be worth around £100 million.

However, with that clause having now expired, it remains to be seen what stance Manchester City will take on the player, and just how much any opening bid could be worth should they look to formalise talks with their Newcastle counterparts.

For now conversation will remain ongoing about two of Manchester City’s other reported targets for the ongoing summer market, albeit with one more likely than the other, and how the future of one current first-team star could play a part in any negotiations.

That is according to the information of GIVEMESPORT’s Dean Jones, who reports that Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala have both been ‘scouted and verified’ by Manchester City as ‘elite additions for the future’ if they become possible.

It is detailed that City were first made aware of Kimmich’s potential availability ‘a few months back’, and Pep Guardiola has ‘always loved the idea’ of a reunion. Despite the emergence of Arsenal in the race, a move to the Etihad is thought to be of most interest to the midfielder.

Given the contractual situations of both players, and the price tags being mooted, it comes as no surprise to also understand that the signing of Joshua Kimmich is being deemed as ‘more likely’ than that of Jamal Musiala this summer.

However, the future of Bernardo Silva could yet change the picture regarding either player, with newly-appointed Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany holding interest, and the pair are reported to have maintained a good relationship from their time at Manchester City.

The Portugal international is believed to be running out of options this summer, as he once again eyes a possible exit from the Etihad Stadium in search of a different culture and lifestyle to the one on offer in Manchester.

FC Barcelona have long been mooted as the most favoured destination from the part of the 29-year-old, however recent claims from within Spanish football have suggested that the La Liga giants are unable to sanction a deal at the price of the player’s City release clause.

As such, Bernardo Silva may already be coming to terms with the fact that another season at Manchester City must be settled upon, with his current focus being on the ongoing UEFA European Championships in Germany.
