Manchester City retain a sell-on clause in Jamie Bynoe-Gittens’ contract as Borussia Dortmund as Chelsea look to sign the English winger this summer, as per several reports.
Bynoe-Gittens followed Jadon Sancho’s footsteps through the exit door from the Etihad Stadium into the Signal Iduna Park in 2020 on a free transfer. The 20-year-old has enjoyed a fine 2024/25 season in black and yellow colours.
The London-born attacker scored 12 times and provided five assists in 48 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga club this season, establishing his status as one of the finest young prospects in Europe.
With three years running on his contract at Dortmund, Bynoe-Gittens will not come cheap for any suitor club as the likes of Chelsea look to bolster their frontline to kick on from a successful UEFA Europa Conference League winning campaign.
Fabrice Hawkins has reported that Manchester City retain a 10% sell-on clause in Bynoe-Gittens’ Borussia Dortmund contract, which could see officials at the Etihad Stadium receive a cash inflow should Chelsea complete the signing of the English forward.
Chelsea have agreed personal terms to bring Bynoe-Gittens to Stamford Bridge and made an opening bid north of €35 million – as reported by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano – as Enzo Maresca looks to challenge for the Premier League title next term after a respectable fourth-placed finish in the 2024-25 season.
Manchester City have a rich array of academy graduates who currently wear the Chelsea blue, with Liam Delap recently joining forces with Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia in west London after completing a £30 million move from Ipswich Town.
Maresca was also part of Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff at the Etihad Stadium and it is a compliment to the 2023 treble winners that those deemed surplus to requirements by Guardiola have only gone on to strengthen their domestic rivals in recent seasons.
City are set to announce the signings of Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri in the coming days after the pair successfully passed medicals at the weekend, with Guardiola receiving a crucial personnel boost in time for the FIFA Club World Cup.
Jack Grealish is expected to leave Manchester City – either on a permanent transfer or on loan – when the transfer window reopens in mid-July and the 29-year-old is set to be excluded from the Club World Cup squad to help him start a new chapter.
Kyle Walker has also been told he has no future at the Etihad Stadium after returning from a loan spell at AC Milan and Manchester City have hit a stumbling block in their pursuit of Newcastle and England defender Valentino Livramento, who has been identified as an ideal replacement for Walker.
City also remain in advanced talks with Lyon for France winger Rayan Cherki, who has agreed personal terms to sign a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium and is understood to be waiting for the negotiating parties to agree a fee before travelling to Manchester to complete a medical and formalise his transfer.
