One potential Manchester City move may take all summer to complete

Manchester City have brought in four players during the opening transfer window of the summer. Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Marcus Bettinelli have all joined the club ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup. All four players will be a part of Manchester City’s squad for the tournament.

But when the summer transfer window reopens on June 16, there is one glaring hole in Pep Guardiola’s squad. That is at right-back. Tino Livramento looms as Manchester City’s top target to fill the vacancy at right-back. But based on a new report from Fabrizio Romano Manchester City’s potential move for the Newcastle United full-back could drag on for the entire summer.

Manchester City and Newcastle United negotiations over Tino Livramento are reportedly at a standstill.

Fabrizio Romano has previously reported on X that Manchester City’s potential move to sign Tino Livramento from Newcastle is on standby and complicated. Furthermore, Romano reports that Newcastle are determined to keep Livramento and is not willing to drop its asking price to sell one of their key players. Fabrizio Romano doesn’t report what Newcastle’s asking price is to sell the England international in his report.

Manchester City’s bid to sign Tino Livramento may drag on all summer.

If Manchester City are to be successful in their bid to sign Tino Livramento, it does feel like it’s a transfer that will take all summer to complete. As per Fabrizio Romano’s report, there was no chance of City signing Livramento before the FIFA Club World Cup. Newcastle United’s determination to keep hold of Livramento further complicates matters. So if there is any hope of City signing a player who would appear to solve their right-back issue, Hugo Viana and Txiki Begiristain may be busy all summer testing Newcastle United’s resolve to keep Livramento.

As if right now, it doesn’t seem that Newcastle United will be prepared to sell Tino Livramento. Nor is there any indication that Livramento would be willing to leave the club. But if Manchester City stand any chance of signing him they’ll likely have to spend all summer working on a potential deal for Livramento. That’s the task ahead of the City hierarchy if they are to sign a player who could fill the gaping right-back void in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
