Premier League champions Manchester City are facing a fresh sanction from the English top-flight following the behaviour of supporters on Sunday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side became the first side in English top-flight history to claim the division’s crown in four consecutive season, whilst making it three trophies won during the ongoing 2023/24 campaign.

With a UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and Premier League now claimed by Manchester City, Guardiola’s players have one final opportunity to win silverware this season, with the FA Cup final against Manchester United now looming.

However before then, Etihad officials could be greeted by the unwelcome notice of Premier League punishment after supporters invaded the pitch at the full-time whistle upon defeating West Ham 3-1 to celebrate their top-flight success.

That is according to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, who reports that the newly-crowned Premier League champions are facing a potential fine following Sunday afternoon’s pitch invasion from supporters.

It is further explained that Manchester City had already been warned about potential future punishments after the Aston Villa pitch invasion at the Etihad Stadium at the end of the 2021/2022 campaign.

City’s latest run in with the Premier League could come as the club continue to fight against more than 100 alleged breaches of its financial rules following a four-year investigation, issued in February 2023.

City were referred to an independent commission over alleged rule breaches between 2009 and 2018, whilst also having been accused of not co-operating since the investigation started in December 2018.

In direct response, and in a stance maintained by Etihad Stadium officials today, Manchester City said at the time that they were both “surprised” by the charges and supported by a “body of irrefutable evidence”.
