According to Florian Plettenberg, Mainz 05 are eager to complete the loan signing of Manchester City midfielder James McAtee.

It has previously been reported that the Bundesliga would be the 22-year-old’s likely destination should he depart the Eithad on loan this winter, with the Carnival club one of the sides stating their interest.

Initial talks between the 05ers and Manchester City have taken place, but as of yet, no offer has been made by the Bundesliga outfit.

However, it is understood that Mainz are prepared to make an official move for the midfielder.

With competition from the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, and a number of other top European clubs, Mainz will undoubtedly have to make certain guarantees if they beat the other interested parties to the Englishman’s signature.
