Macaulay Langstaff has issued a reaction to Millwall's 1-0 win over Middlesbrough over the weekend
Millwall have offered their play-off chances a further shot in the arm by edging out a fellow top-six rival in Michael Carrick's Middlesbrough at The Den on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions have seemingly emerged out of nowhere to enlist themselves firmly within the top-six reckoning with just four games to spare following a remarkable upturn in form at the best possible time.
Millwall have spent much of the campaign languishing in mid-table, but a run of four victories from their last five matches has propelled them into play-off contention. Home wins over Stoke and Portsmouth were crucial, but successive 1-0 victories against Sheffield United and most recently Boro - two sides in and around the top-six - have sent a statement about just where Millwall could finish the season.
Camiel Neghli's first goal for the club, no less than seven minutes after coming on for George Honeyman, ultimately decided the contest 25 minutes from time. Yet another slender, hard-earned 1-0 win has moved Alex Neil's side up to ninth and within two points of sixth-placed Coventry City, while they are now level on points with both Middlesbrough and West Brom.
There is a palpable feel-good factor around the club heading into Millwall's final four games, which will see them face off against Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City, Swansea and then promotion hopefuls Burnley on the final day.
Striker Macaulay Langstaff was among those to react to the victory via Instagram on Saturday evening.
Langstaff was brought on for the second-half in place of Luke Cundle and played his part in his side's win. Despite failing to get on the scoresheet, the ex-Notts County goal-getter thoroughly enjoyed the hosts' victory.
Reacting to the match, Langstaff wrote via his official Instagram page: "Really enjoyed that one😀"
The likes of Ryan Leonard, Japhet Tanganga, Lukas Jensen and match-winner Neghli also reacted to the win in separate posts.
Truth be told, it has been a difficult campaign in the Championship for Langstaff since joining Millwall last summer from Notts County, where he had scored a remarkable 71 goals across the previous two seasons.
The 28-year-old has scored just once from 32 league appearances, 14 of which have been starts. A return of 0.07 goals per 90 minutes hardly makes for pretty reading, but Millwall supporters may not care all too much if the likes of Ivanovic and Josh Coburn keep scoring to help the Lions into the play-offs and potentially beyond.
