We looked at three Championship clubs who should have Liverpool striker Jayden Danns on their radar this summer.

Liverpool striker Jayden Danns has been left out of the club's pre-season trip to Asia, which may put a host of Championship clubs on alert.

Since making his senior debut for Liverpool back in February 2024, Danns has been involved with the club's first-team squad, and he has made a big impression whenever he has featured for the current Premier League champions.

Danns spent the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland, with the club opting to press ahead with the signing despite a back problem being revealed during his medical, but he did not make a single appearance for the Black Cats as the injury kept him out for the remainder of the campaign.

The 19-year-old has now returned to full fitness and was pictured training with his Liverpool teammates last week, but manager Arne Slot has not included him in the 29-man squad that will fly to Asia for the pre-season fixtures against AC Milan and Yokoyama.

That could indicate that Slot is open to allowing Danns to leave on loan again this summer, and with that in mind, we looked at three Championship clubs who should have him on their radar.

Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough are on the hunt for a new striker this summer to replace Emmanuel Latte Lath, who joined MLS side Atlanta United for a fee of £22.5 million during the winter transfer window.

The decision to sell Latte Lath proved to be incredibly damaging to Boro's season as their play-off push collapsed after his exit, and the loan signing of Kelechi Iheanacho from Sevilla proved to be a disaster as he scored just one goal in 15 appearances.

The Teesside outfit are said to be closing in on a deal for experienced striker Danny Ings after his departure from West Ham United, but he is now 32 years of age and has struggled with injuries in recent years, so new manager Rob Edwards may also be keen to bring in a younger and pacier option to bolster his forward line.

After the failed Iheanacho deal, Boro may be wary about using the loan market again this summer, but Danns would be a much less risky signing, and he could be the perfect partner for Tommy Conway if Edwards decides to deploy two strikers.

Coventry City

After a stunning second half of last season under Frank Lampard, Coventry City surged up the Championship table to book their place in the play-offs, but they crashed out at the semi-final stage after a 3-2 aggregate defeat to Danns' former club Sunderland.

The Sky Blues will be optimistic that they can launch another promotion push in the year ahead, and they will hope that star striker Haji Wright, who scored 12 goals in 29 appearances last season, can stay fit for the entirety of the campaign this time around.

Lampard has predicted that it could be a big season for Wright, but he does not appear to be quite as convinced by his other striking options - Ellis Simms, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Norman Bassette - and there is a possibility that at least one of the trio could depart this summer.

If Coventry were to give the green light to Simms, Thomas-Asante or Bassette to leave the club, Danns could be an excellent upgrade, and as Lampard has a proven track record of developing young talent from his time in charge of Derby County and Chelsea, there may be no better manager to help him take the next step in his career.

Blackburn Rovers

It was a turbulent campaign for Blackburn Rovers last season, and it ended in disappointment as they missed out on the Championship play-offs on the final day.

Rovers currently have plenty of striking options on their books, including Makhtar Gueye, Yuki Ohashi, Augustus Kargbo and Harry Leonard, but they are arguably missing a clinical finisher to help them get over the line in their pursuit of a top six place.

Blackburn were said to have been keen on Danns during the January transfer window, and while they may have been relieved that Sunderland beat them to his signature on that occasion given his subsequent injury problems, they should consider reigniting their interest this summer.

Liverpool have had a positive relationship with Rovers in recent years, with the likes of Billy Koumetio, Owen Beck and Tyler Morton all making the switch from Anfield to Ewood Park, so they may feel that it is the ideal place for Danns to spend the upcoming season.
