Coventry City, Watford and West Bromwich Albion are all reportedly interested in a move for Genoa winger Seydou Fini

Championship trio Coventry City, Watford and West Bromwich Albion are all interested in a move for Genoa winger Seydou Fini ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 second-tier campaign.

As reported by Ben Jacobs of GIVEMESPORT via X on Thursday morning, the three clubs hold an interest in Fini in a bid to bolster their squads in preparation for next season, which will kick off when Birmingham City host Ipswich Town in just over three weeks' time on August 8.

It has been a slow start to the summer transfer window for Coventry, who have made just two additions to the squad which fell to defeat against eventual winners Sunderland in last season's dramatic two-legged play-off semi-final by acquiring Spanish defender Miguel Andre Brau and Kaine Kesler-Hayden in a marquee signing from Aston Villa.

Watford, however, have been much busier, and the Hornets' activity in recent weeks has turned heads across the Championship. In total, Watford have made six signings and counting, with Luca Kjerrumgaard, Othmane Maamma and Vivaldo Semedo joining the likes of Nathan Baxter, Marc Bola and Hector Kyprianou in moving to Vicarage Road ahead of Nestory Irankunda's hotly-anticipated move from German giants Bayern Munich.

West Brom have also kept additions to a minimum, with new head coach Ryan Mason perhaps preferring quality over quantity in a bid to push the Baggies back into the top-six following last season's near-miss under ex-boss Tony Mowbray.

Like Coventry, the West Midlands outfit have completed only two signings, but they have splashed out on Nat Phillips and highly-rated frontman Aune Heggebo from Brann and will hope to make Fini another addition to Mason's squad as they close in on the capture of CF Montreal's George Campbell.

Coventry City, Watford and West Brom interested in Genoa's Seydou Fini

As per Jacobs' aforementioned update, Fini is "attracting interest" from the trio ahead of a potential move to the Championship this summer.

Fini is reportedly available for an outlay between £3-5 million, which would represent a significant investment for any of the three sides currently interested in acquiring his services.

Aged 19, Fini has made just five appearances for Serie A outfit Genoa after graduating through the club's youth system but featured regularly last season on loan in the Dutch second-tier with Excelsior, where he returned four goals and three assists from 38 outings.

Fini, who can operate as a winger on either flank, has represented Italy at various age groups all the way up to U21 level.

Coventry City or West Brom could be better options for Seydou Fini instead of Watford

The highly-rated teenage prospect may well find himself weighing up the options on the table if any of Coventry, Watford or West Brom are to amplify what is only described as interest and pursue an official approach.

Of those potential options, however, Watford may not represent the best destination to serve both his immediate and longer-term development. That's because the Hornets are poised to have a clutch of young wingers at the disposal of new boss Paulo Pezzolano, who will soon have the prodigious Irankunda to complement the likes of Maamma, Kwadwo Baah and Rocco Vata.

Indeed, Watford are still battling it out with Norwich City over a deal for Metz winger Pape Diallo, and all of those players are aged 22 or under.

It could be difficult for Fini to gain the regular, competitive minutes he needs at this stage in his career and a move to either Coventry or West Brom, where wide options are not quite as plentiful, could be a better option.
