Sheffield United and Leicester City are facing stern competition from Celtic in their pursuit of Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan with the Blades, making 35 Championship appearances whilst managing seven goals and two assists.

Leicester's only summer signing so far is goalkeeper Asmir Begovic - due to well-reported PSR concerns limiting their transfer activity.

Palace have apparently previously rejected a £10m bid from Southampton for the winger, which suggests why they are only open to letting him leave Selhurst Park on another loan deal.

Celtic are making a late move for Rak-Sakyi and are "serious" contenders in the transfer race, according to journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon.

Both the Bhoys and Old Firm rivals Rangers have reportedly made loan offers for the England U21 international, as per Sky Sports, putting a Scottish spin on things in what had been an English second-tier battle.

The timing is seemingly crucial for Celtic, who are desperately seeking attacking reinforcements before the window closes. Manager Brendan Rodgers has been pushing for more depth in wide areas - especially after their goalless draw with Rangers at Ibrox.

"We need five, six wingers because of the number of games we play," Rodgers told the media. That's not to say they'll sign five or six obviously, but just add to the number they've already got - as they won't let Adam Idah out the door until replacements are secured.

Sheffield United remain heavily interested in bringing Rak-Sakyi back to Brammall Lane though, with Pete O'Rourke reporting that the Blades are working on re-signing the former Charlton Athletic loanee.

Whilst with the Addicks three seasons ago, Rak-Sakyi netted 15 League One goals along with eight assists.

As for Blades, Ruben Selles is under pressure following a very poor start to the season, with the South Yorkshire side yet to pick up a single point from their opening four league games.

Leicester City have also seemingly thrown their hat into the ring, with Nixon reporting via his Patreon that the Foxes are very interested in Rak-Sakyi themselves.

Perhaps the biggest swinging factor in Celtic's favour is their ability to offer European football to Rak-Sakyi, with the Scottish champions now competing in the Europa League following their penalty shootout loss to Kazakh ouftit Kairat FC.
