There are some key players that could leave Stoke City next summer when their current contracts expire.

The Potters have already published their retained list ahead of this summer, with the likes of Tyrese Campbell, Tom Edwards and Wesley Moraes leaving upon the expiry of their contracts.

Steven Schumacher has already added to his squad for the coming season, with goalkeeper Viktor Johansson joining from Rotherham United for a fee of around £1m.

There are multiple first team players that are approaching what could be their final season in a Potters shirt in the upcoming campaign, and we have picked out four of those below that could leave the club in 2025 if they do not sign a new deal, according to Transfermarkt.

Josh Laurent

Laurent is now 29, and has been with the Potters since June 2022 after spending two years at Reading and winning their Player of the Season for 2020/21.

He was appointed as Stoke captain by Alex Neil last summer and has been a near ever-present since his arrival, making 76 appearances and scoring eight goals in all competitions.

He signed a three-year contract in 2022, so is set to come into the final year of his Stoke deal this season, but it seems unlikely that Steven Schumacher would want him to leave if he continues to play a key part at the heart of his side's midfield.

Lewis Baker

Baker has been at the bet365 Stadium since January 2022 after ending his 17-year association with Chelsea in favour of a move to the second-tier to play regular games.

He shone in his first six months under Alex Neil, prompting the club to offer him an improved three-year deal in June 2022 and Neil to offer him the club captaincy.

Inconsistent form and injuries have only followed though, and he made just 20 appearances under Neil and Schumacher last season as his influence on the team waned.

Stoke were reportedly open to offers for the 29-year-old in January, and may look to sell for a fee this summer before he is free to leave for nothing next year.

Jordan Thompson

Thompson was initially set to leave Stoke this summer, but they triggered the option for another year on his deal after his impressive performances in the last six months.

The Northern Ireland international has been with the Potters for over four years since joining from Blackpool, and recently surpassed 150 appearances for the club, despite largely playing a bit-part role under all three managers in his time at the club.

His versatility has clearly impressed current boss Schumacher though, with 17 of his 23 starts last season coming under the former Plymouth boss.

He is set to play a key role again in the upcoming season, and it would be no surprise to see him extend his stay in the Potteries past next summer.

Michael Rose

Rose signed a two-year-deal last summer after joining from Coventry City, and formed a strong partnership with loanee Luke McNally throughout his debut season.

The 28-year-old made 35 league starts for the Potters, scoring once and helping keep 11 clean sheets, but was dropped by Schumacher for the final three games of the season as he preferred Ben Wilmot from the off.

Rose may find himself playing fewer minutes next campaign, with Stoke set to be active in their search for a centre-back, and could be looking for the fifth permanent club of his career if his contract is not renewed before next summer.
