The Los Angeles Galaxy are your new MLS Cup champions after defeating the New York Red Bulls in a rip-roaring final Saturday afternoon.
Scorers: Paintsil 9', Joveljić 13' ; Neails 28'
Neutrals were treated to a ding-dong opening 15 minutes as the Galaxy flew out to an early two-goal lead thanks to goals from Joseph Paintsil and Dejan Joveljić.
While it looked like the visitors would be blown away before they even found their footing, a tremendous control and finish from Sean Nealis saw the Red Bulls pull one back before the 30 minute mark.
The two sides traded chances in the second-half, with the best chance falling to Emil Forsberg just above the penalty spot, but the veteran midfielder somehow finessed his shot just wide of the post.
A late Red Bulls push looked set to reclaim parity, but some heroic Galaxy defending ensured they saw out the result and secured the sixth MLS Cup trophy in club history.
