Time is surely running out for Chelsea as they look to secure the services of Fermin Lopez on transfer deadline day.

Although the Barcelona forward has yet to decide his future and is currently having doubts as to whether or not he should continue in Catalonia, Chelsea have not been able to strike a breakthrough with Barça.

The Catalans, after all, have appeared very strict in negotiations and are not looking to sell Fermin on a cut-price deal.

Chelsea unwilling to offer more than €50 million

According to the latest update from El Chiringuito, Chelsea have decided not to exceed the €50 million offer they had earlier made for Fermin Lopez.

It appears the Premier League giants are not swayed by pressure from Barcelona and won’t spend anything more than €50 million for the player.

It was reported earlier that Barcelona may consider Fermin’s exit with an offer of around €70 million.

The Blaugrana, though, remain steadfast in their €90 million price tag for the Spanish international, who is rated quite highly by coach Hansi Flick.

What does this mean?

This means the two parties may have reached an impasse, which may ultimately lead to Fermin Lopez staying at Barcelona this summer.

The Barcelona forward has always leaned towards staying at Barça and fighting for a place in the starting eleven.

In fact, with Gavi recently picking up an injury, Fermin may enjoy more game time under Flick this season, although he will still face competition from Dani Olmo.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea change their stance on Fermin as we enter the final stretch of the summer transfer window.
