Christian Falk’s report for CF Bayern Insider has set the rumour mill spinning with news that Bayern Munich are pushing hard to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool. With two offers already knocked back, including one at €67.5m (£58.4m), the German champions are now preparing to table around €80m (£69.2m) to tempt Liverpool into formal talks.
According to Falk, Diaz has “communicated to Bayern Munich yet again that he wants to join them” and has agreed personal terms. Bayern view him as “the next big name” in Munich, and their determination to secure the Colombian star underscores their transfer ambition.

At Anfield, Diaz’s position has shifted over the past season. While once a guaranteed starter, he has become “one of several options” under Arne Slot, particularly after Cody Gakpo’s strong performances on the left and the blockbuster arrival of Florian Wirtz.
Slot’s tactical reshuffle last season saw Diaz increasingly used through the middle, but with Liverpool reportedly eyeing Hugo Ekitike, the Colombian’s chances of leading the line look uncertain. Wirtz, described as an “elite creator,” will also affect how wide attackers fit into Liverpool’s evolving system.
Bayern’s intent is clear. Falk notes they “would have been prepared to spend €150m [£129.7m] for Florian Wirtz,” highlighting their readiness to invest heavily. Bayern are not just chasing Diaz either, with Nick Woltemade also in their sights.
However, not all is calm in Munich. Some Bayern fans have voiced their discontent, questioning why the club isn’t focusing on targets like Real Madrid’s Rodrygo instead. Yet, from the Bayern board’s perspective, landing Diaz would be a marquee move, signalling both ambition and long-term planning.
The big question for Liverpool is whether to cash in. So far, the club has shown “no intention of selling the Colombian,” but money talks, and an offer approaching £70m is serious. Given the squad depth and the presence of Wirtz and Gakpo, Liverpool face a genuine dilemma: keep a player who could soon find himself on the bench more often, or reinvest a sizeable fee into strengthening other areas.
With Bayern’s determination and Diaz’s own reported wish to join, Liverpool fans may need to prepare themselves for a high-profile departure.
As Liverpool fans, this report hits hard. Luis Diaz has been a fan favourite, a player who embodies flair, commitment and moments of magic. The thought of him wanting to leave, especially after Slot’s title-winning debut season, feels like a gut punch.
Slot’s system is exciting, yes, but surely there’s room for someone like Diaz? Gakpo has been brilliant, and Wirtz is an elite addition, but Diaz brings something unique – directness, unpredictability and a big-game mentality.
It’s also worrying that we might lose him to Bayern without a clear replacement. Hugo Ekitike is still a rumour, not a signing, and moving Diaz on without sorting the squad could leave us light in attack.
And let’s not forget: Diaz didn’t just play on the wing, he adapted centrally when asked, showing flexibility and resilience. The club’s “no intention of selling” stance should be ironclad, not wavering at £70m. For supporters, this feels like a moment where we need the board to hold firm, not look at the balance sheet.
We can only hope Slot agrees and that Diaz sees his future with us, lifting more trophies, not walking away at his peak.
