Jonathan David is officially a Juventus player! The 25-year-old Canadian forward has signed a five-year contract with the club, running until June 30, 2030.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Haitian parents and raised in Ottawa, Canada, David began his football journey with Ottawa Gloucester and Ottawa Internationals before moving to Europe at 17 to join Belgian side Gent. He made an immediate impact there, scoring on his debut in August 2018, and finished his first two professional seasons with an impressive 37 goals and 15 assists in 83 appearances, earning the Belgian league Golden Boot in the 2019/20 campaign.
In the summer of 2020, David moved to Lille, where he spent the last five seasons. He scored 87 goals in 178 Ligue 1 appearances, and 109 goals with 30 assists in 232 matches across all competitions for the French club. He played a crucial role in Lille’s 2020/21 Ligue 1 title and helped the team lift the French Super Cup the following season.
David debuted for the Canada national team in September 2018, scoring twice on his debut. He has gone on to earn 66 caps and has scored 35 goals. He previously represented his country at underage level too.
