Joel Mumbongo makes a fresh start at Annan Athletic

Joel Mumbongo is changing shirts but staying in Scotland. The 26-year-old striker of Congolese descent leaves Dumbarton FC to sign with Annan Athletic FC, a club competing in the Scottish League Two.

Having previously played for Burnley in England, Joel Mumbongo continues his career in the British Isles. Officially unveiled by Annan on Tuesday, he shared his excitement:

I’m really excited for the upcoming season. My agent had been in contact with the club for a while, and I felt it was the right move for me.

Last season, the centre-forward scored two goals and provided two assists in 32 Scottish League One matches. He’s dropping down a tier in hopes of reigniting his career at Annan.
